Portrait of a Woman
From the costume and style, the portrait appears to have been painted in the years around 1786 when this particular fashion is recorded. It was thought in the nineteenth century to depict the actress Sophie Arnould (1744-1802), but the date and appearance of the sitter disprove this identification, and there is no positive evidence to support the claim.
