King George I
King George I (1660-1727), Reigned 1714-27.
A rather crude version of Kneller's standard coronation portrait, depicting the King in robes as a Knight of the Garter, with his crown, orb and sceptre. More detailed information on this portrait is available in a National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue, John Kerslake's Early Georgian Portraits (1977, out of print).
