Male Mahadeshwara

A subject of a popular Kannada folk ballad, Mahadeshwara has been deified as an incarnation of Shiva and is identified with the Shiva-linga. Mahadeshwara probably lived during the 14th century. He performed a number of miracles to protect the people and saints living in and around Male Mahadeshwara Hills in Karnataka.
