Medal commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). Obverse: The Admiral's bust (left), undraped. Legend: 'HOR. VICECOM. NELSON OB PATRIAM PVGNANDO MORT. OCT XXI. MDCCCV.' (Died fighting for his country.) Reverse: Bellona, winged, laureate, bundle of thunderbolts in raised right hand, stepping over the sea, on which in distance antique galleys are fighting. Legend: 'IPSE BELLI FVLMEN.' (Himself the thunderbolt of war.)
