Bust-length portrait of the artist, turned toward the left, looking out at the spectator. Enclosed in the architectural enframement of a window, his left arm rests on the sill, the hand pointed to the left. Inscription below, in frame: "Peint par De La Tour/et Gravé/Par son ami Schmidt/en 1742." Address in margin below.
