Side chair (67.153)

Unknown Artist

Late Baroque style walnut and maple side chair. The scooped and saddled crest rail rests upon a solid, vase shaped vertical splat. The rectangular stiles slightly taper as they approach the crest rail and they bow outwards from the seat rail creating a concave profile. The cabriole front legs have block knees and they taper and terminate with pad feet. The slip seat is upholstered with a red textile. The four turned stretchers are organized in an "H" formation with a supporting stretcher in the rear.
