Spoon warmer (2012.23)

Cast metal spoon warmer. The pumpkin shaped form with crescent opening in which to place a spoon. The handle is a naturalistic elongated stem with a leaf thumb piece. The handle terminates on the leafy base supporting the body of the pumpkin. The large front leaf is stamped with the registry mark indicating the year of manufacture is 1877. Heating the interior required the user to pour hot water into the hollow interior through an opening on the underside. This opening is secured with a circular cap. Much of the silver plating is worn away being most apparent on the handle and on the underside.
