Study of a Youth

In this bust-length study, the face of a young male is shown in three-quarter profile looking to the left. His delicate facial features, large eyes and full lips, and flowing curly hair allow us to identify him as Arthur Prinsep, a nephew of Lady Somers. Watts so admired Arthur's shock of red hair that he is said to have bribed the boy not to cut it.
