'Suspended Sound' is a series of glass blown sculptures that fictionally represent sound that has crystallised. They are linked to the artist’s sonic performance ‘Data on A minor scale’ in the way both blown glass and clarinet sounds require breath to be made. The glass sculptures suggest a vocal communication trapped as the delivered breath is abruptly materialised into these immobilised organic forms. However as the popular myth goes, glass melts slowly over eons of time, a transformation so slow that it is not visible. Even when it is crystallised there is movement; movement that cannot be seen. It morphs slowly through a timeframe of geological scale.
