The Light / The Dark & Unapologetic
'The Light/The Dark' and 'Unapologetic' are intaglio etchings, concerned with the retrieval of the female gaze, subtly challenging narrow Western ideals of female beauty. Both portraits focus on the act of mark-making, using the line to build up a light and darkness that is both real and experienced. It’s the dualistic and complex nature of being human that has driven these portraits. They are a form of self interrogation that hopefully also draws upon universal experiences.
