Object Image

Elbow gauntlet, for the left hand, having a tubular cuff of two plates prolonged to form a vambrace. On the inner side of the arm, the top edge is flanged to accommodate the bend of the elbow. The edge is roped. Part of the lining band remains. The hand is covered by six metacarpal plates, three knuckle-plates and scaled fingers; the thumb-piece is missing. The rivets used throughout have small, hemispherical, fluted steel heads.

Since this is for the left arm it may never have been one of a pair.
