Parrying dagger

Parrying dagger, the hilt made up of a flattened cylindrical pommel and button made in one piece; vertically ribbed, wire-bound grip; straight guard of flat section widening towards the ends into spatulate terminals; single side-ring. All of the parts of the hilt are decorated with conventional flowers and foliage etched upon a plain ground.

The blade, square in section, sharply ridged, grooved and pierced, the ricasso flattened on one side for the thumb.

About 1610; place of origin uncertain.
