Terracotta lekythos (oil flask)

Unknown Artist

Nike

Nike, the personification of victory, lends herself particularly well to the tall, rather narrow shape of a lekythos. The subject was common during the first decades of the fifth century B.C., undoubtedly in response to the Greek victory over the Persians.
