This dynamic bowl features stylized horizontal bands, vertical ribs, and trapezoidal feet inspired by African stools and drums. Displaying demanding craftsmanship and design ability, this work of hand-hammered silver combines traditional qualities of African art with abstracted lines of the Art Deco style. The bowl was awarded the grand prize at the 1930 Exposition Internationale in Antwerp, Belgium.
