In 1988 Bill Goldston suggested that Dunham try making drypoints on pewter plates, which impart an exceptionally rich, almost romantic quality to the incised lines, but degenerate quickly. This technique accounts for the lush texture apparent in this suite, as well as its small edition of only fourteen.
