The dressing room and bedroom are named after the daughter of the 7th Earl of Derby, Lady Amelia Stanley, who married the 1st Marquis of Atholl in 1659.

The Derby connection brought considerable wealth to the family at Blair Castle as a result of Amelia's inheritance of the sovereignty of the Isle of Man. In 1844, this suite of rooms was used by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert when they stayed at the castle for a private family holiday.
