Tea Room

The Tea Room is from the Georgian period and was originally thought to have been a bedroom until 1751. It is a room dedicated to the ritual of tea drinking, which would have been a relative luxury in the time of James, 2nd Duke of Atholl.

The castle butler would have kept the tea under lock and key in the teapoys. The taking of afternoon tea was a very important daily social occasion the rooms decor and contents reflect this.
