Street Art Tour Lelystad

On this tour, you'll find all the realized street art murals in Lelystad. What inspires the artists we’re collaborating with? And what are the stories behind their artworks? In our Behind the Wall series, the artists tell you all you need to know.

Information about the project: In collaboration with the Municipality of Lelystad and the Province of Flevoland, street art organization Writer's Block organized their first large-scale street art project in Lelystad in 2021. Various artists transformed Lelystad at different locations in the city. The project's theme was 'New land on the seabed'; a theme that fits very well with this unique city. About 100 years ago Lelystad did not yet exist, instead of dry land, you would find mostly water. The inhabitants of the country took control of their environment and turned the area into what is now Flevoland. The artist used this story of Lelystad as inspiration for their murals.

In 2022 Writer's Block came back for another round of art making, transforming one big location in the city center. The "street art jam" took place in October and featured local artists and (inter)national street artists.
